GTA Neighbourhood Guides
Six areas I work in most, with the character, housing stock and lifestyle that make each one worth considering, for a home or an investment property.
Downtown Core
High-rise condo living, world-class dining and transit on your doorstep. The Downtown Core attracts young professionals and investors alike, with proximity to the Financial District, the waterfront, and the entertainment and fashion districts. Expect strong rental demand and premium pricing on anything with a view.
North York
A balance of mature, tree-lined streets and dense, transit-connected towers near Yonge & Sheppard and Yonge & Finch. North York suits families who want good schools and green space without giving up subway access, and it has become a hotspot for mid-rise and high-rise development.
Scarborough
Larger lots, detached homes and some of the best value per square foot in the city. Scarborough’s diversity shows up in its food, its community events and its housing stock, from post-war bungalows to newer builds near the GO corridor and future Line 2 extension.
Etobicoke
Lakeside pockets along the Humber and Mimico waterfront sit alongside established, family-friendly neighbourhoods inland. Etobicoke offers easy highway access via the Gardiner and 427, making it popular with commuters who still want a quieter, more residential feel.
East York
A quieter, close-knit pocket of the old City of Toronto with a strong mix of character homes, young families and long-time residents. East York offers easy access to the Danforth and the DVP while staying more affordable than its downtown neighbours.
York
An emerging area with some of the city’s most accessible entry points for first-time buyers and investors. York’s proximity to transit corridors and ongoing revitalization make it worth watching for both livability and long-term value.
